A natural, pleasant-tasting throat spray to help soothe and relieve irritation, with the added boost of immune support from Echinacea. The dual action comforts symptoms, while boosting the body’s ability to fight a sore throat. Echinacea is traditionally used to help stimulate the immune system, our body’s natural cold-fighting defense. Honey provides a soothing effect on the inflamed, sore tissues of the throat and helps reduce the coughing reflex.
The herb Echinacea has centuries of evidence as an immune-stimulant, helping reduce the severity and provide symptomatic relief of colds.
Traditionally used to support the immune system, Echinacea may also assist in the management of upper respiratory tract infections, including coughs.
Liquid Echinacea is generally considered more bioavailable than in a solid dose (tablets).
Honey provides a soothing effect on the inflamed, sore tissues of the throat. In addition it has been shown to have a sedating action on the coughing reflex, providing temporary relief of coughs.
Cineole, or Eucalyptus Oil, is traditionally used to help cold and flu symptoms and has natural antibacterial and decongestant properties.
Natural vs. Synthetic Throat Sprays
Many of the most familiar sore throat sprays available on the market contain non-steroidal anti-inflammatories (or NSAID’s): drugs that produce a chemical reaction in the body to reduce swelling and pain. NSAID’s are not recommended for use by the elderly, pregnant or breastfeeding women, children or asthmatics. The potential for side effects and interactions with other medications also exists.
Bosisto’s Echinacea Throat Sprays are an alternative to NSAID sprays, based on natural ingredients and designed to work in harmony with the body’s natural immune system response. Rather than ‘blocking’ symptoms and add ing to the chemical load these formulas support the body’s natural cold-fighting defences and encourage better general wellbeing all year round.
Bosisto’s Echinacea Throat Sprays contain no added sugar, artificial flavours or preservatives and are gluten and lactose free. They are suitable for use by children 6+ and pregnant and breastfeeding women (consult your healthcare professional). They can be used as often as required, even in conjunction with other cold and flu medications.
Sore throat and the immune system
A sore throat is often one of the earliest signs of a cold. While they are usually caused by viruses and do not need medical attention, sore throats can be very painful.
Repeated sore throats may be a sign of a weakened immune system.
The immune system is made up of specialised cells which identify and attack invading viruses – if it is compromised, through poor health, illness, stress or lack of sleep, our body’s fighter cells can’t do their job and you may find you catch ‘everything going around’.
Instead of using synthetic drugs at the first sign of a sore throat try a gentler solution…nature’s two best cold-fighters: honey and Echinacea.
The herb Echinacea has centuries of use of an immune-stimulant, helping reduce the severity of colds and helping provide symptomatic relief. Clinical trials have shown Echinacea can cut a cold’s duration by an average of 1.4 days. Recently, the world’s largest ever clinical study into Echinacea concluded it could reduce the number of recurrent colds caught by those with weakened immune systems by up to 60%.
Honey exhibits natural antimicrobial properties and has an instantly soothing effect on the sore, inflamed tissues of the throat - reducing irritation and inhibiting the cough reflex. Many studies have found honey effective in reducing the frequency of coughs, with one favourably comparing its efficacy to the common over-the-counter cough medicine ingredient dextromethorphan.
