Eucalyptus Oil

Bins
There’s fresh; and then there’s “Eucalyptus fresh”… it’s just a whole other level!  Bin odours don’t stand a chance against the antibacterial power of natural eucalyptus oil, and unlike many commercial air fresheners there are no synthetic fragrances.

Grab a can of Bosisto’s Eucalyptus Spray for best results.  It also kills common household germs you find around kitchens, which is a great bonus.

Floors

Eucalyptus oil really shines when it comes to floors.  It cuts through grease and grime and lifts sticky substances – and let’s not forget that aroma.   You can use pure oil in your mop bucket, but Bosisto’s Eucalyptus Solution is even better.  This water-soluble product disperses beautifully and allows for an even result on your floors.  Add 3 capfuls to hot water in your mop bucket.  Once you’ve had floors this fresh you’ll never go back.  (ps. If you have indoor cats, instead of Eucalyptus Lavender Oil can be substituted)

Mattress

Obsessed with this one!  Each time you change your sheets, give your mattress a good spray with Bosisto’s Eucalyptus Spray.  It kills germs, freshens and deodorises… who doesn’t love sleeping on a fresh healthy mattress?   For a change from Eucalyptus Lavender Oil can be used instead.

Surfaces

Cleaning is a breeze with eucalyptus oil.  Any surfaces, but particularly ones that are sticky or greasy.  You can wipe over neat with 100% pure oil on a cloth (try this to whisk makeup stains off your bathroom vanity), or fill up a bucket with warm water, add 2 capfuls of Eucalyptus Solution and use this to wipe any areas of the home to your heart’s content.  It’s especially good for grubby, sticky cooktops and rangehoods, or where sticky dust settles like window tracks and ceiling fans.

Lavender Oil

Laundry

Lavender oil is simply lovely in the laundry, especially when you’re laundering linen and towels.

Give your wash a boost by adding 2 capfuls of pure oil, or Bosistos Lavender Solution in the final rinse to freshen and fragrance.

It’s a great low-tox alternative to commercial softeners.

Keep Bugs Away

One of the essential oils with a reputation for repelling bugs, lavender oil is handy to keep around if you have ants, mozzies, flies, moths… in fact any kind of creepy crawlies that aren’t invited inside.

Soak a cotton ball in pure lavender oil and place around windowsills (keep out of reach of pets).  Consider growing lavender herbs in pots outside your doors.    Diffusing lavender oil in a diffuser is also useful – great for dinner parties inside.

Pop 30-40 drops of pure lavender oil in a spray bottle with some distilled water and spray over patio furniture and outdoor furnishings.

Yoga Mat Spray
Lavender is great for freshening gym gear, including shoes – pop a cotton ball with lavender into your sneakers to help keep them fresh!

This DIY Yoga Mat Spray is also terrific, and can be used to freshen and wipe over any home gym equipment such as dumbells and exercise balls.

Drawer Freshener
Drawers and cupboards can get a bit musty, particularly in rooms that don’t get a lot of use.    Wipe inside drawers with Bosisto’s Lavender Solution in some water, or give things a quick freshen up using Bosisto's Lavender Spray ( great for pillows and mattresses too, as an alternative to eucalyptus).

You could also make DIY Drawer Freshener bags to keep your drawers and wardrobe smelling amazing all the time!  Bonus – lavender is said to deter moths.

Relax!
Of course, the ultimate lavender oil use is for winding down at the end of the day.  Spray your pillow with a Lavender- based Aroma Mist, diffuse an essential oil blend containing lavender in your diffuser or try a few drops in the bath.   It’s the ultimate wellbeing treat to reward yourself for living a more natural life!
